Indian authorities detained Ayush Varshney, co-founder of Darwin Labs, at Mumbai airport on suspicion of involvement in the large-scale GainBitcoin fraud. Investigators claim that Darwin Labs developed the core technologies, including electronic wallets and proprietary tokens, which were used to manage investors’ funds. According to the investigation, around 8,000 people lost approximately 790 million USD: instead of the promised profits in Bitcoin, their money was converted into devalued internal tokens of the scheme.
