Australia Prepares Licensing of Crypto Platforms


The Australian Senate Committee has proposed a bill equating crypto platforms with financial institutions. Companies dealing with digital assets will be required to obtain a financial services license and comply with rules on custody, transactions, and client disclosures. The law provides for a six‑month transition period, and ASIC Chairman Joe Longo emphasized the urgency of its adoption due to the growing popularity of crypto services.
